Academic
Centers of Excellence is a non-profit, after school program for
students around California supported by the California State University,
Bakersfield. Our goal is to assist elementary and middle school
students in their education by maintaining centers within their
communities to help with homework, provide extra learning opportunities
and offer a place where they can feel comfortable and excited to
learn.
The programs coordinated by our staff consist

In addition, our high school outreach
program sends representatives to the community's high schools to
help students with college, loan, and scholarship applications.
This program is directed to increase awareness for high school students
about their options in applying for college. We also hold SAT and
other test preparation courses.
Academic Centers of Excellence has entered
its third year in existence and we look forward to improving last
year's success. We have 10 locations
in operation around California as our staff and volunteers continue
to expand the reach of our programs to new students in new areas.
The seven components of Academic Centers
of Excellence are: motivational seminars, parent education, K-12
academic assistance and enrichment, middle and high school college
preparation and financial aid counseling, mentoring, health and
wellness, and technology.
